How a New Jersey woman saved the life of her dog after climbing a 7,500-foot-high mountain to save him

A New Jersey man has been charged with first-degree murder after his dog was found dead in the same valley where a man was found hanging from a tree in New Jersey earlier this month.

Robert C. Tocci, 52, of Woodbridge, is being held on $1 million bail and is expected to be arraigned Tuesday in Newark Superior Court.

The incident took place on June 25 near the town of Leflore, about a half-hour’s drive north of Newark, authorities said.

A woman called 911 to report seeing a male dog dangling from a cliff, police said.

Authorities say the woman said the dog had been hanging for at least three days.

The woman then called 911 again to report that she found the dog dangling near a tree.

The victim’s wife found the body a few days later.

A preliminary autopsy showed that the dog was hanging from the tree in the vicinity of the cliff, but the cause of death wasn’t immediately known.

Authorities said the victim’s body was wrapped in a blanket.

The dog’s cause of deaths weren’t immediately released.
